Prepare the Bottles
Clean and cut the bottles: Remove the top or cut a large opening on the side.
Create drainage holes: Poke several holes in the bottom with a nail or screwdriver.
Fill with Soil
Add soil: Fill the bottle with potting soil or well-draining soil mix, leaving about an inch from the top.
Moisten the soil: Lightly water the soil until evenly moist.
Plant the Seeds
Sow seeds: Scatter seeds evenly over the soil surface and cover with a thin layer of soil (about ½ inch deep).
Space seeds: Ensure seeds are about 2 inches apart.
Provide Proper Conditions
Light: Place bottles in a sunny location with 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Use a watering can or spray bottle.
Care and Maintenance
Thin seedlings: Remove weaker plants if crowded.
Fertilize: Apply balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-3 weeks.
Harvesting
- First harvest: Cut outer leaves when large enough, typically 4-6 weeks after planting.
- Subsequent harvests: Continue harvesting outer leaves regularly to encourage new growth, aiming for up to 5 harvests.
